THREE WAYS TO DISTINGUISH ORIGINAL KOBE BEEF

  1. WITH NORMAL EYEs

In terms of appearance, color, shape of the meat… Kobe beef and wagyu are almost no different. Only those who are observant will realize that Kobe beef has a more beautiful fat pattern, the ratio of between fat and lean is more even.

Basically, the stamps on the meat of the same origin from Japan are not different either and completely in Japanese, so it is difficult for consumers to recognize.

According to the strict control procedures of the Japan Kobe Beef Association: any piece of Kobe beef, when sold, must be affixed with a daisy stamp (the logo has been exclusively recognized and registered), and also enclosed by a physical information stamp which shows origin. Wagyu beef will only have the wagyu beef stamp with the regular origin stamp.

  1. BY ID NUMBER

On each piece of Japanese beef (including Kobe beef and wagyu), there is a stamp showing the origin of that piece of meat such as: what type of meat, the factory, pre-processing, weight … and specifically the ID number of the slaughtered cow. This ID number is very important because all information the cow with this ID will be displayed clearly and explicitly.

We access the Kobe Beef Association website: http://www.kobe-niku.jp/en/contents/certification/index.html. Then click on the System button below. Enter the ID number on the meat’s origin stamp in the white box, then press Search.

If the ID number is correct, a detailed information sheet will appear about the slaughtered cow such as time of birth, time of slaughter, name of the raising farmer, the farmer taking care of the goods. date, and especially you can trace back to 3 generations of slaughtered cattle.

  1. HOW TO CHECK THE IMPORTED KOBE COW IS OFFICIAL
